Letters: Kudos to Caltrans; Tahoe drivers were class acts (Opinion)

KUDOS TO CALTRANS

I used to be driving again to South Lake Tahoe on Sunday afternoon I and was shocked the Johnson Highway bypass open — 5 days forward of schedule. Properly finished Caltrans.

And extra Kudos … to Steve Nelson, the general public data officer at Caltrans, for residing as much as his title and actually frequently updating us.

To somebody at Caltrans for having the reference to all freeway indicators and with Waze and Google Maps, for updating these data gadgets the second U.S. Freeway 50 reopened. And an enormous thanks to these unknown heroes, who labored across the clock and did the soiled work throughout sizzling daytime hours and chilly nights. That features all these flaggers and pilot automotive drivers over the Johnson Move. Maybe our metropolis council can be justified to supply a commendation to our transportation companion for his or her spectacular work.

As a facet observe, whereas driving again on Sunday, the road of automobiles coming down from Lake Tahoe on U.S. 50 was unbelievable. Lots of upon a whole lot of automobiles touring again to their Bay Space (or wherever) backyards. All these automobiles didn’t count on the Freeway to be reopened, and so they had been (nearly all) ready for an additional hour or two of detour. That tells me that the Bay Space (primarily) guests will go to any size to return and play right here.

So, what would occur if we have now an enormous parking space in or round Placerville and bus everybody right here, have a transit heart in SLT with 5,000 golf carts and gradual issues down a bit for guests that method.

In fact parking, bus, and golf carts paid for with applicable charges by the guests.

Thanks once more Caltrans for an exemplary job.
